Vicostone quartz contains up to 93% natural quartz and is highly scratch resistant, but its manufacturer still says never to cut directly on the countertop. Caesarstone gives similar guidance and notes that dark surfaces can show scratch marks more readily. Both manufacturers recommend using a cutting board.

Quartz or natural stone is laid out around your template before cutting. Vein direction, sink openings, slab dimensions and seam locations are planned to create a cleaner finished appearance.
Step 4: Custom Fabrication
The selected slab is cut to the approved template. Fabrication includes sink and cooktop cutouts, faucet holes, seam preparation and edge profiles such as eased, bevelled or mitred edges.

Home Depot Canada's natural stone program recommends sealing natural stone approximately every 2 to 3 years, although the correct interval depends on the specific stone and sealer.
Quartz is highly stain and scratch resistant, but it is not indestructible. Its nonporous construction helps resist spills such as coffee, wine and cooking oils. Cutting boards are still recommended, and abrasive cleaners or pads can affect some finishes. Caesarstone, Cambria, HanStone and Vicostone should be maintained according to the individual manufacturer's care instructions.
